An Update from our President

KY NBCT Network News

December 10, 2017

Hold On!  A Break is on the Way!

The network has been busy and visible in several places lately!  It is great when groups reach out and offer a table to promote National Board Certification.  Thanks to any and all that have been available to man those tables.  If you would like to help in that capacity let me know.

A big thank you to Chelsea Allen for representing us at the meeting for Educators’ Rising.  It is shaping up to be a great event March 14 in Louisville.  17 of you volunteered to help!  KDE can not stop talking about how AMAZING you all are!  Thank you, and be watching for detailing.

We have a grant for $3500 dollars to be used for awareness of the new process of national board certification.  A team has developed tag cards, 5 core posters, and templates we can use.  if you have ideas how to increase awareness for potential candidates, let us know.

EPSB will soon be seeking NBCTs for a committee to work on possible teacher career pathways.  Check the EPSB website for the application often.  It would be great to have our network well represented in that work.

Brian McDowell is hosting information sessions for people interested in pursuing National Board certification.  Please watch our Twitter KYNBCTnetwork and help push that out.  Please retweet like crazy and share on facebook.  If you would be interested in hosting an event for candidates virtually, let me know.  We have the slides already made.

Ali Wright and Renee Boss have agreed to host an event for renewal candidates on-line..we just have to find a date!

If you signed up for the book club, we will start after the first of the year.  Please send me your address so that I can mail you your copy of the book.

Looks like scores will be released Saturday.  We are beginning the process of planning a recognition event.  We may have several hundred new NBCTs in our ranks!  YAY, Kentucky!  There will also be many disappointed teachers.  Please reach out to any teachers that do not certify this round and encourage them to resubmit. There is a new calculator to help make decisions about components and feel free to reach out if I can help.

Have a great holiday.
